Why do I use Wordpress and not my own system? For a long time I did write my own content management systems, and where it’s appropriate for projects, I still do. Recently the flexibility, reliability and security of free projects like Wordpress have made it more sensible to use them.
Every day thousands of Wordpress installations serve millions of pages, and with hundreds of people trying to break in, and hundreds more trying to keep them out- it’s a sensible choice for publishing on the web.
Absolutely invaluable utilities for me include Tordex’s Start Killer, whatever Stardock’s ObjectDock has been rebranded as following legal action from apple, the phenomenal Launchy- man I love that program. The most under-rated piece of software I own is Cygwin, a *nix emulator providing SSH client/server, SVN etc. functionality.
